10th ANNUAL PCH SANTA MONICA / OXNARD
NEW YEAR'S DAY RIDE

77 Miles

Robert Nam provided the following information.

8:45 AM MEET
9:00 AM START

San Vicente & Ocean Bl

Fairly flat with a couple of rollers. Pace is whatever you want to go - someone will join you. Ride up the coast to Las Posas Road (this is where PCH turns into a freeway - exit at Las Posas and turn left, cross the overpass and then back onto PCH back to Santa Monica.
  • There should be very little traffic so a great time to enjoy the coast.
  • In the last few of years the group has swelled to 150+ riders so please be mindful not to bunch up on PCH.
  • Try to ride only 2 abreast. If you're not comfortable riding in packs, please go to the back of the group.
  • This is a 'free' ride and everyone is expected to be responsible for their own safety when riding with the group.

STOPS

  • First stop to regroup is Trancas for water, restrooms, etc. at the Chevron station (if you prefer to continue without stopping, please go to the back and wait til everyone turns so you don't take people with you who may have to stop).
  • Second stop to regroup is at Las Posas bridge before turning around.

SAG - No sag this year so please carry all necessary items to be self sufficient. there's plenty of places to stop for water, food, etc but you should carry spare tubes, pump, etc.

thanks and hope to see everyone on the road!

ps - no ride if it rains

MEMORIAL DAY RIDE

MONDAY, MAY 25, 2009

8:00 AM
PEET'S COFFEE & TEA
11750 San Vicente Blvd, Brentwood

In 2001 one of our most valued members was tragically killed while riding home on her bicycle.

On Monday, Memorial Day May 26, we will be riding in the memory of Debra Goldsmith and the memory of others who have passed. In another devastating blow to the Goldsmith family, her brother, Michael Goldsmith has been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

In the month of May, all across the nation, bicycle clubs, shops and cyclists are riding a total of 2130 miles representing the Lou Gehrig record of consecutive baseball games played.

La Grange will do 50 miles of the 2130 miles in conjunction with our annual Memorial Day ride and in support of Michael Goldsmith and his Batting for Cure Campaign.

All funds raised will benefit the research efforts of the ALS Therapy Development Institute, the world’s largest translation research center.

Please feel free to recruit your friends and business associates for their support.

Please make all donations payable to ALS TDI and mail to:
