Rose Bowl Ride
One of the longest standing group rides in the United States (over 60 years)

5:55 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays
during DAYLIGHT TIME

The City of Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Ride Ad Hoc Committee have come to an agreement.

"Please note that we are still just one quick reading of an ordinance away from "no organized peloton riding in the Rose Bowl." Thank you so much for your support last year and continued support this year. Please be courteous to the other users of the Rose Bowl." The Committee: Katie Safford, Chris Keller, Mark Rich, Lon Bender, Scott King, Bob LLamas, Chris Zeigler

Please read the 2009 RULES and GUIDLINES, print it out, sign it and bring it to your first ride.  Rose Bowl Ride Rules

Tuesday Telo Street Ride

With a long history as another one of “those big rides”, this open training ride is about pure speed. A Criterium circuit on Telo Ave, Kashiwa and Fujiita, the route consists of one hour of multiple laps around a one mile loop. This ride will tap your cardio limits averaging 26+ MPH. Multiple clubs from all over the South Bay area join each Tuesday during daylight savings time at 6:00 PM. The streets are open during this time as cyclists and motorists share the road but with only businesses and no residences in the area, most motorists have headed home by 5:30. Telo Street is another one of those “pickup” rides that no-one really owns or organizes and it actually draws spectators who watch.  Friends and Relatives of Telo has a Facebook Group.     CLICK HERE FOR MAP

Camarillo Practice Crit

Time: Starts at 6pm and goes to 7pm on Thursday evenings at a business park just at the bottom of the Conejo grade.

Directions: Exit 101 N at Flynn Road and go N on Flynn Rd to Via Pescador and go R, then left on Avenida Acaso. Park in any of the lots for the businesses.

Course: The course is a "D" with 2 right turns on Avenida Acaso and Via Pescador with the start/finish on Acaso. Course is open to traffic, but usually not an issue.  If you fall off the pace, just keep circling and jump back in.

It is about 43 miles from Wilshire & the 405, and you can also take PCH, if you like. If you had time, you might drive out early, then do an hour or two easy
around Camarillo (e.g. Spanish Hills) for a nice change of pace, then do the crit.

It is not scored from week to week or particularly official (e.g. no numbers, prizes or recorded placings), but they have lap cards and sprints every 10 laps, and has a mix of talent, but usually includes some good riders with breakaway skills, as well as fast sprinters, so is a nice workout. When windy it can be tough to be on the front, so you can get some real work in, if you attack.

There are usually a few La Grangers out there, so send a message to the list if you are planning to go. Also, evenings there can be cool, even if hot in the Valley, so sometimes a base layer or arm warmers are worth bringing.
